Crew

The Multiverse will have you believe its personally responsible for all the magnificent beautiful things in the cosmos. This is only partially true. As oftentimes it snatches credit for things that occur entirely by accident. Thankfully, we at Melodygun remove just a tiny bit of guesswork. These people are responsible for crafting the world of Magus Elgar. Whether this is a good or bad thing, we'll at least cover our bases with a "Thank you," with our heads held high, and a "Sorry" coughed under our breaths.

Kennedy Phillips

Creator (and a bit of everything else)

Raised on a Sailboat for a good portion of his life, Kennedy entertained, Improvising commercials telling stories other vessels out at sea, much to the joy of his family. When it was time to live on land, his love for being a storyteller only worsened. In 2007, he attempted (sloppily) to create a show of his own. Recording single take performances and tackling various furniture in his dorm for sound effects. Now possessing a Master's Degree from Chapman University and nearly 5 years of professional experience, he hopes to try again with less injury. Magus Elgar is the culmination of Kennedy's love for Cartoons, Fantasy, and Sci-Fi. He spent a great deal of his time frantically pouring ideas about the show to the confused, and often worried people surrounding him. Oftentimes, without even providing a frame of reference.  It is rumored that there are so many scrapped ideas, they could in fact power a small city populated by frankenstein-esque mice made out of the rough drafts of earlier episodes. Though if such were true, Kennedy would deeply apologize for the inevitable Miceaggedon and say "I might have seen this coming."

Hamed Hokamzadeh

Producer And Composer

If you listen carefully to the handful of notes at the beginning of every epiosde of Magus Elgar, you'll find evidence of the elusive and enigmatic Hamed. The Founder of Melodygun, and a very valid reason why Magus Elgar got off the ground in the first place. Hamed's passion for music started like it does for many: on the piano bench. He fell in love with writing classical music but it provided limited career choices... unless you combine it with a story! He decided to head to City of Angels to pursue scoring. While studying at CSULA, he got his first gig scoring a graduate thesis from Chapman film school. It was around that time he met Kennedy, who eventually approached him foaming at the mouth about magic and floating towers and, most bizarrely of all,  how radio was going to transform the world. Fearing for his life, he stood up straight, looked at Kennedy straight in the eye, and said "I mean, sure,  we could do that, I guess."

Andrew Cornell

Director and Co-Writer

Born amidst the foggy snows of Silmore and raised by the legendary card sharks of the Wailing Ocean  (that would be sharks made out of tarot cards and playing cards), Andrew now uses his insane creativity to assist with polishing the story of Magus Elgar. He studied long and hard at the Chapman University's Dodge college. Where he would befriend Kennedy. It was until after andrew chased out of a parking structure by Kennedy brandishing a plastic lightsaber that they discovered their common interest in film. Andrew served as a valued bouncing board of Kennedy's ideas.  Filtering out the frequent terrible concepts, offering his own, and even wrote a few episodes. However, his primary role would come to helping direct the voice cast behind the scenes which often involved a great deal of flailing and screaming.  His eccentricity and vibrant energy helped fuel several ecclectic performances, and even in his spare time of playing such games as Yugioh and Overwatch or browsing YouTube for videos on the lore of Star Wars and Harry Potter, he brings the energy to everything he does.

Tsu Woodside

Story Editor

Tsu is probably not a bond villain.

It is of the creator's opinion that having your flaws exposed helps facilitate change for the better. When Kennedy first met Tsu his work was edited to within an inch of his life (and pride). Shortly after, they became lifelong friends. Now she practices her brutal skills to help narrow focus and improve the project, to everyone's profit: she probably even strokes a cat while doing it. A professional writer, editor, script doctor and grammar nazi: Tsu spends her time reading things in silly voices, wrangling semi-colons and shunning the serial comma. She graduated with a degree in creative writing (and philosophy) from Northampton, UK before emigrating from the hilly wilderness of Derbyshire, England to the snowy wilderness of Buffalo, NY. She has a few spheres of nerd credibility, from editing for table top games to 2,000 hours of D&D GMing! She's an omnivorous Sci-fi/Fantasy and horror reader and would love to be reincarnated as Stephen King. Her main role in Magus Elgar pre-production is to sieve out (most of) Kennedy's interdimentionally horrific puns.

Christopher Moore

Udo Malaaki, Assistant Sound Design, and Marketing

Sound is the essence of everything for Chris. With a background in Foley, Sound Design, and Audio Engineering, Chris jumped through the portal to Hearth in search of new challenges and experiences. There he learned what it actually means to be a voice for our character Udo Malaaki, and create some of the soundscapes that we hear in Magus Elgar today. This is Christopher's first attempt at voice acting, and initially it was a considerable challenge for him (as well as Kennedy and Andrew). With guidance from the supportive cast and crew, Chris developed an innate understanding of Udo as a character and found a way to bring him to life. Though he did not anticipate for the process to nearly shatter his sanity.  As a sound designer and foley artist Chris has worked on multiple feature length films, a few shorts, and a few commercials. He hopes to change the world with a microphone and a Pro Tools subscription.

Thomas Ouizel

Rerecording Mixer and Quality Control

Thomas is a storyteller who transcends any singular medium. Whether it be sound design for films, radio plays, music, or writing, He takes great pleasure invading the headspaces of the characters and creating the tone of another world.  He observed countless sessions at WB Sound on films like Project X, The Raven and The Twilight series. Informed by that experience, he co-founded MelodyGun with Hamed to facilitate the wide range of sound and music needs in filmmaking. With over 50 film credits and recent sound design nomination for the psychological thriller Dry Blood, he makes it a mission to never stop learning. His penchance for music has given him an ear for rhythm. As you will find him performing for his band Emerald Portal. Though it's entirely speculation if their music summons any actual portals, let alone green ones. When approached with Magus Elgar, he initially was unsure about Kennedy's objective. For the creator was speaking at a incomprehensible pace. It wasn't until he was presented with the show's first crash thirty seconds that he was infected with an equal volatile enthusiasm.

Caster: Sorcerer

Favored Fantasies: The Dark Tower series, The lord of the Rings films (original trilogy)

Favored Sci Fi: Star Wars, The Matrix, Looper, Blade Runner

Jason Foster

Assistant Sound Design, Assistant Foley Artist

Jason is a Long Beach-based sound designer and location sound mixer. A graduate of Cal State Long Beach with a degree in Film & Electronic Arts, Bringing the world of Magus Elgar to life was both a challenge and a joy for him. His natural talent for goo-based noises and audacious cape flaps convinced the Magus Elgar team that he was right for their needs. Indeed it was by Jason's hand that Magus Elgar himself developed a penchant for whisking his cloak to and fro as if he intended to fly south for the winter.

Favored Fantasies: Game of Thrones, Harry Potter

Nicholas Fedora

Foley Artist, Assistant Sound Design

Ever since creating chaotic noise with household items and aggravating his family at a young age, Nicholas Fedora has been destined to continue to create cacophonies. Specializing in Foley, Fedora lends his enthusiastic talents to any and all areas of post audio, including  assisting with sound design for Magus Elgar.
