Crew

We've come a long way, and many of us have evolved considerably since the days of Magus Elgar. Meet the crew of Clutch! A Kobold Story!

Kennedy Phillips

Creator (and a bit of everything else)

Raised on a Sailboat for a good portion of his life, Kennedy entertained, Improvising commercials telling stories other vessels out at sea, much to the joy of his family. When it was time to live on land, his love for being a storyteller only worsened. In 2007, he attempted (sloppily) to create a show of his own. Recording single take performances and tackling various furniture in his dorm for sound effects. Now possessing a Master's Degree from Chapman University and nearly 5 years of professional experience, he hopes to try again with less injury. Magus Elgar is the culmination of Kennedy's love for Cartoons, Fantasy, and Sci-Fi. He spent a great deal of his time frantically pouring ideas about the show to the confused, and often worried people surrounding him. Oftentimes, without even providing a frame of reference.  It is rumored that there are so many scrapped ideas, they could in fact power a small city populated by frankenstein-esque mice made out of the rough drafts of earlier episodes. Though if such were true, Kennedy would deeply apologize for the inevitable Miceaggedon and say "I might have seen this coming."

Caster: Magus

Favored Fantasies: The Discworld Series (The Color of Magic), the Warded Man, The Nightside series, Dragon Age, Monkey Island

Favored Sci Fi: The Fifth Element, The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Star Trek, Galaxy Quest, Professor Nebulous, Stargate SG-1

Tsu Woodside

Writer, Story Editor

Tsu is probably not a bond villain.

It is of the creator's opinion that having your flaws exposed helps facilitate change for the better. When Kennedy first met Tsu his work was edited to within an inch of his life (and pride). Shortly after, they became lifelong friends. Now she practices her brutal skills to help narrow focus and improve the project, to everyone's profit: she probably even strokes a cat while doing it. A professional writer, editor, script doctor and grammar nazi: Tsu spends her time reading things in silly voices, wrangling semi-colons and shunning the serial comma. She graduated with a degree in creative writing (and philosophy) from Northampton, UK before emigrating from the hilly wilderness of Derbyshire, England to the snowy wilderness of Buffalo, NY. She has a few spheres of nerd credibility, from editing for table top games to 2,000 hours of D&D GMing! She's an omnivorous Sci-fi/Fantasy and horror reader and would love to be reincarnated as Stephen King. Her main role in Magus Elgar pre-production is to sieve out (most of) Kennedy's interdimentionally horrific puns.

Caster: Sorcerer

Favored Fantasies: The Dark Tower Series, Neil Gaiman Novels, Robin Hobb Novels

Favored Sci Fi: Isaac Asimov Novels, H.G. Wells Novels

Christopher Moore

Sound Design

Sound is the essence of everything for Chris. With a background in Foley, Sound Design, and Audio Engineering, Chris jumped through the portal to Hearth in search of new challenges and experiences. There he learned what it actually means to be a voice for our character Udo Malaaki, and create some of the soundscapes that we hear in Magus Elgar today. This is Christopher's first attempt at voice acting, and initially it was a considerable challenge for him (as well as Kennedy and Andrew). With guidance from the supportive cast and crew, Chris developed an innate understanding of Udo as a character and found a way to bring him to life. Though he did not anticipate for the process to nearly shatter his sanity.  As a sound designer and foley artist Chris has worked on multiple feature length films, a few shorts, and a few commercials. He hopes to change the world with a microphone and a Pro Tools subscription.

Caster: Wizard

Favored Fantasies: Princess Mononoke, Full Metal Alchemist, Rurouni Kenshin,

Favored Sci Fi: Battle Angel Alita

Jason Foster

 Sound Design, Assistant Foley Artist

Jason is a Long Beach-based sound designer and location sound mixer. A graduate of Cal State Long Beach with a degree in Film & Electronic Arts, Bringing the world of Magus Elgar to life was both a challenge and a joy for him. His natural talent for goo-based noises and audacious cape flaps convinced the Magus Elgar team that he was right for their needs. Indeed it was by Jason's hand that Magus Elgar himself developed a penchant for whisking his cloak to and fro as if he intended to fly south for the winter.
